A Being that Yearns
Social and Autobiographical Works - Graphic Design, Collage making, and Illustration
“The Being that Yearns” began as a study into understanding female yearning* as an extension of my personal experiences with yearning, and how yearning is a manifestation of the unfulfilled eroticness of our beings**.
I discovered symbols that were elemental to the visual language of yearning.
What came out of hours of yearning with self, with friends, with my mother, with nature, and with writings by Audre Lorde, Bell Hooks and Rebecca Solnit was an intimate installation comprising of five digital collages dyed onto pieces of fabric.
My intention, with the project, has been to continue exploring the multitudes within my being, articulate those multitudes and create a dialogue with other people to understand how they engage with my embodiments of yearning.
