Exploring Sense of Self
Social and Autobiographical Works - Family Photographs and Print
This project is an amalgamation and a compilation, in the form of a book*, of experimentations and research in relation to explorations of my sense of self. In this context, I specifically look into two fields of study that interest me - my ancestory and inter generational trauma, and my engagement with online and offline spaces.
Following the practice of my grad dip tutor, Dr Ekua Morris, I discovered the power and flow of family album photographs. Family album offered me the language of a visual history, a visual archive that says so much without literal speech, that talks with its symbolism, metaphors, the colours, the shape, the physicality and abstractness of it.
